NEW YORK, new york
Hi! We made it! We are in New York!
More specifically, I am in Queens with the lovely Brielle, Ryan in is D.C. with his Corvallis cronies and our bikes are waiting patiently for us back in Oregon. Chicago was a blast. We stayed in Lincoln Park where we were minutes away from vegetarian cuisine, farmer's markets and the beach. I had no idea Chi-town could be so homey and chill. We also made it to Ann Arbor which met my expectations and surpassed them. I will definitely be applying there, among many other places, this fall. Grad candidate '08, can't wait.
Now it's la creme de la creme of metropolitan living. Shopping in Midtown, hobnobbing with the hipsters in the Village, wining and dinning in Little Italy, walks and naps in Central Park, even a long elevator ride up to the top of the Empire State Building. Guggenheim, MET, Natural History Museum. Three hour dinner at a Russian restaurant owned by Mikal Baryshnikov. (Caviar, veal, and pepper flavored vodka.) Subways and buses that take you everywhere for $2. This place is really growing on me. After helping Brielle babysit the coolest kids in the sweetest neighborhood in Brooklyn, I'm even considering moving here. The boroughs are where it's at as far as living. And then the city is right there at your fingertips.
That about brings you up to speed. The bike trip is officially over. Back to the grueling grindstone of living in Port Townsend and working on sailboats all summer. Rough.
Hope all is well out there in your world! My posts will be even more infrequent now, my apologies. I guess we will just have to connect the old fashion way. FACE to FACE.
love, kai
