Port Townsend dreaming

Two months and no post! What a crime. I climbed off the bike and stepped right into a life devoid of blog activities I guess.

For anyone still checking this, let me fill you in on my goings on this shimmery summer:
I moved home after the bike trip to Port Townsend, Wa, the fairytale community I grew up in. I've been reveling in African dance at the Rec Center, Dogs-a-Foot veggie dogs for $3, quality time with Mom and friends, and beachwalks and bonfires under the stars. I've been working as a kayak guide giving water front tours and renting boats at Ft. Worden, a local park in town. It's not the biggest money-maker but I'm really grateful for the training and experience. I love kayaking! And I love teaching people how to kayak. I think I've found a new passion/job that I can do in other, potentially exotic locales. Yay!

Now my PT time is up and it's time for another adventure. Next week I fly up to Friday Harbor in the San Juans to board the tallship Adventuress for 2 months as a liveaboard educator and deckhand! I'm very excited. I'm packing my carhartts and leatherman and wool socks, leaving behind my Maui boat uniform of t-shirt, shorts and bikini. I'll be learning to sail, teaching environmental classes to passengers aged 8-88, and leading sea shanties as we haul away the sails! I won't have much cellph access or email but I'll try to check it when we come into ports around the Puget Sound.

So that's where I'm at! Miss you all! Miss Maui a lot but happy to be a NW girl again.

xoxoKai
